Now I was wondering either I'll change the phpBB version to 3. Though this would only take a few minutes, I'm still thinking about the problems that will arise.

Do it. Unless you have a good setup (REALLY good) with phpBB2, upgrade.

I changed it top PunBB as it is more organized and a lot more sexy.
The quick reply is also now implemented!
Though the userbars look a little funky.

I have some experience with phpBB3. The admin panel can be a little bit more confusing than phpBB2.

I would upgrade every chance you get. 3 > 2 so unless there is some reason that you really like 2, I would move up to 3
