google chrome has add ons too, but not as much, and if you don't want loads of features, and a really fast browser, then chrome is what you want.

that would be (most likely) caused by your school's firewalls and anti-hacking/security methods. It has to pass through so much security and so many checks that I can understand it being extremely slow when hundreds (thousands) of students are on the server at the same time.

Firefox clearly, especially since firefox 4 when it's released is supposed to to be the fastest browser.
